Lockdown Lifted At Barnes Air Base After Frantic Reports Of Shots Fired Reports of a shooting at Barnes Air National Guard Base sparked a lockdown, but police say the gunfire was part of a training exercise.  The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. at the 104th Fighter Wing on Southampton Road in Westfield, when police responded to reports of gunfire.  Law enforcement rushed to the scene as the base went into lockdown during the ongoing exercise.
