Dazzling Display Now Underway As Jupiter, Mercury, Venus Align With Moon
The evening sky is about to put the finishing touch on a rare June display.
A slender crescent moon will join Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus in the western sky on Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17, creating one of the month’s best skywatching moments.
The best viewing window will be about 30 to 60 minutes after sunset. In the Northeast, that means roughly between 8:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Look low toward the west-northwest horizon.
A clear, flat view will matter. Trees, buildings, hills, and clouds could block the lowest objects in the lineup.

Virginia Legal Weed Sales Set To Spark Up In 2027 Under New Cannabis Deal
Virginia’s long-stalled legal marijuana market may finally be ready to light up.
Gov. Abigail Spanberger, Sen. Lashrecse Aird, and Del. Paul Krizek announced a new agreement on Tuesday, June 16, that would create a legal, regulated adult-use retail cannabis market in Virginia, with sales set to begin on July 1, 2027.
The deal, reached through the state budget process, would complete a years-long effort that began in 2020, when Virginia started moving toward legalization.
